Madison Common Council member, stand-up comedian, civic leader, pastor of Light of Love Fellowship

​Dina Nina Martinez-Rutherford, who was called “…very funny.” by the Late Late Show’s James Corden, is a transgender standup comedian, actor, speaker, activist and politician.

​In 2023 she became the first transgender woman elected to office in Madison, WI. She currently serves on the Common Council as Alder for District 15.

In addition to her life as a speaker, comedian, and civic leader, Dina Nina also leads Light of Love Fellowship, an inclusive and affirming faith ​community, an organization which aims “to encourage connection with the divine, ​provide a safe space for those who have faced adversity within ​faith communities, and promote love as our guiding principle.”

​The Rev. Liz Edman is an Episcopal priest and political strategist who has been igniting people's understanding of Christianity and queer life for more than 25 years. She is the author of Queer Virtue, a renowned text that lifts up the queer ethical path as a model for progressive Christian practice, illuminating and potentially vivifying the Christian faith.

Liz has lived and worked on the front lines of pressing issues where religion and sexuality meet, serving as an inner city hospital chaplain to people with HIV/AIDS in the '90s, helping craft political and communications strategies for marriage equality efforts and organizing Christian communities to fight anti-trans laws in the public square today.
